Course Description
Individual study of an educational problem in the field under the direction of an instructor Emphasis on the current approaches to curriculum and curriculum innovation. Attention is given to major educational issues as they affect curricular activity. Studied topics considered include research in curriculum development, the curriculum plan, contextual characteristics, and factors related to curriculum participants.
Course Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this course,students will be able to:
1. Identify the types of Innovation concerning curriculum development. 2. Differentiate the major educational issues affecting curricular activities 3. Organize research topics in curriculum development to present to the class 4. Provide constructive feedback on weekly curriculum trends by posting on the class blog.
Teaching and Learning Strategies:
1. Active learning and research-based instruction are the major mode of teaching and learning throughout the course.
2. Students are required to study the learning material guided by instructor and discuss it in the class.
3. Students engage in performing certain learning activities, for example, exercise, cases analysis, articles review, etc.
4. The mode of teaching would be dual mode both on-lined and face to face, so students required to check the assigments in the class Blog and give feed back regularly.
Course Assessment:
Part I: Portfolio 60%
Students are required to submit the portfolio for the collection of the following outputs based upon the due assignment:
1. Class participation 10%
2. Reading and analysis of assigned articles portfolio 30%
4. Presentation of each week assignment to the class 20%
As the following details:
Part I – 60%
* 10% - Class participation, students must attend class more than 80%.
* 10% - Reading Portfolio on related topics and post on the class blog
* 20% - Participation in class discussions
* 20% - Weekly individual presentation
Part II – 40% - Final examination, Tuesday, 16 February 2010
Grading
A = 90 – 100% C+ = 65 – 69%
A- = 85 – 89% C = 60 – 64%
B+ = 80 – 84% C- = 55 – 59%
B = 75 – 79% D = 50 – 54%
B- = 70 – 74% F = 0 – 49%
Note: Student with the grade lower than C+ will be considered as failed in this course. In that regard, student has to take this course again in order to meet the program requirement.
Requirement:
1. Students are required to submit all assignments before the final examination.
2. Students who lack 80% of attendance are not allowed to take the final examination.
3. Student without the submission of assignments and / or absent from the examination will get the grade of “I” (incomplete). If there is no submission of assignments and / or without the make-up examination in one month after the final examination, the grade of I will be automatically transformed into grade “F”.
